Korogati Soccer Club Field Transformation Update

Imagine a soccer field so uneven and littered with stones and massive boulders that every sprint carries the risk of injury. This was the daily reality for the young athletes of Korogati, where passion for the game often outpaced safe playing conditions.

In Korogati, soccer is far more than just a sport — it is a unifying force, a source of hope, and a pathway to opportunity for many young people. Unfortunately, the dangerous condition of the field created a major barrier to consistent training, organized play, and youth development. Loose rocks, uneven terrain, and massive boulders increased the risk of sprains, cuts, and falls, making every practice a challenge.

Thanks to your generous support, this transformation project is now well underway

Our first and most important goal was to turn this unsafe plot of land into a functional, player-friendly field. Before grass could be planted or goals installed, extensive site preparation was required. This included clearing the land, grading the surface, and stabilizing the soil to create a safe foundation for athletic use.

The process began with a full site assessment to identify rock size, depth, and soil conditions. Heavy machinery — including excavators and hydraulic hammers — was brought in to break apart and remove the largest rock formations.

This work could not have been accomplished without the incredible support of the local community. Members of the soccer club and community volunteers worked side-by-side throughout the cleanup effort, demonstrating remarkable teamwork and dedication to improving the field for future generations.

We are excited to share that the field has now been leveled and cleared, marking a major milestone in the project. Take a look at photos and videos below!

The next phase of development includes:

Planting grass across the field

Upgrading and installing soccer goals

Beginning repairs and upgrades to the bathroom facilities

Creating shaded areas for athletes and spectators to provide relief from the sun and create a more welcoming environment for families and community members
